The Heavy-Duty Standard Diagnostic system application provides the functions necessary to diagnose most SAE/TMC J1708/J1587 electronic control system/engine, transmission, brakes, instruments and emissions. To address advanced capabilities provided by this application, the MPC uses PCMCIA cards. The card is plugged into the back of the unit, and provides additional functions. POWER LINE CARRIER (PLC) TEST APPLICATION FOR TRAILER ABS
|
- Effective March 2001, a Federal Government mandate required that heavy-duty trucks have an in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp. Using a new SAE standard called PLC communication, the change requires trailer ABS ECU s to communicate with the tractor ECU via the J560 power line to activate the warning lamp. NEXIQ s PLC Converter (sold separately) is also required for PLC communication. The PLC test application is easy to use and provides the ability to:
- Test tractor and trailer coupled or trailer independently for MID
messages.
- Requires NEXIQ PLC Converter Kit (PN 601020)
- Toggle in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp ON/OFF to confirm
operation.
- Verify trailer ABS ECU for MID 10 and MID 11 messages.
